Woman Killed in Highway 198 Rollover Crash in Kings County
Kings County, California (January 7, 2021) – A woman was killed in a two-vehicle collision that left two other people were injured in Kings County on Tuesday evening, according to a California Highway Patrol report.
The collision happened just before 6 p.m. January 5, on Highway 198 near 2nd Avenue.
A 2017 Hyundai was speeding westbound on Highway 198 when it crashed into the rear of a 1998 Toyota.
The impact caused both vehicles to veer off the roadway where the Toyota overturned.
A 56-year-old woman in the passenger seat of the Toyota was killed in the accident.
The Toyota driver, a 51-year-old man, sustained major injuries and was taken to Kaweah Delta Medical Center for treatment.
The Hyundai driver sustained minor injuries.
Neither drugs nor alcohol are believed to be factors in the crash.
No additional information about the accident was provided.
The accident remains under investigation.
