George Palma ID’d as Sebastopol Man Killed in Santa Rosa Car Crash on Highway 12 near Merced Avenue

Santa Rosa, California (January 6, 2021) – George A. Palma, 33, of Sebastopol, has been identified as the man who was killed in a multi-vehicle accident on Monday morning in Santa Rosa, according to the Sonoma County Sheriff-Coroner’s Office.

The deadly accident happened at about 8:23 a.m., on January 4, on Highway 12 near Merced Avenue.

A Toyota Matrix, driven by Palma, was traveling eastbound on the highway when it lost control and drifted into the westbound lane, where it crashed into an oncoming Ford Transit van, the officials said.

Following the collision, the van continued westbound and smashed into an Acura RDX that was behind the Toyota. The Toyota continued eastbound in the westbound lane and collided head-on with a westbound Chevrolet box truck.

Sadly, Palma was declared dead at the crash site.

The driver of the box truck, a 24-year-old Santa Rosa man, was hospitalized with major injuries.

The Ford van driver, a 26-year-old Santa Rosa man, was taken to a hospital with moderate injuries.

A 20-year-old woman from Sebastopol who was driving the Acura sustained minor injuries in the accident.

An investigation into the accident is underway.
