Male Bicyclist Hospitalized after El Cajon Crash on South First Street near Lexington Avenue

El Cajon, California (February 5, 2021) – A male bicyclist was seriously injured in a Wednesday night traffic accident in El Cajon, authorities said.

The accident occurred at about 7:00 p.m., on January 3, on South First Street near Lexington Avenue.

According to the officials, a sedan was turning into a driveway when it struck the bicyclist. The cyclist was in a bicycle lane on South First Street at the time of the collision.

First responders arrived at the scene and found the bicyclist conscious and bleeding from his head. He was transported to Sharp Memorial Hospital in San Diego with a possible broken leg.

Intoxication was not suspected of having played a role in the accident.

The crash remains under investigation.

Thermal, California (February 6, 2021) – Authorities are investigating a Tuesday evening traffic collision that killed a 1-year-old pedestrian in Thermal.

According to the California Highway Patrol, the deadly pedestrian accident occurred at about 7:00 p.m., on February 2, near Shore Oasis Street.

The child reportedly ran behind a vehicle as it was backing up in front of a residence and was finally hit. A 17-year-old teen was operating the vehicle at the time of the collision.

Sadly, the child sustained fatal injuries in the accident.

Further details regarding the accident were not immediately available.

An investigation into the accident is underway.

Jose Gastelum Killed in Bicycle Accident at 1st and Reed Streets in San Jose

San Jose, California (February 5, 2021) – Jose Francisco Gastelum, 36, has been identified as the male bicyclist who was killed in a Sunday morning hit-and-run crash in San Jose, authorities said.

At about 4:27 a.m., on January 31, the officials responded to the deadly bicycle accident at the intersection of South 1st Street and Reed Street.

A Chevrolet Silverado was reportedly headed northbound on southbound 1st Street when it struck Gastelum, who was riding his bicycle on the roadway.

Sadly, Gastelum was declared dead at the scene.

The involved driver fled the scene and is being sought by the police. The suspect’s vehicle was described as a 2016 or 2017 black Chevrolet Silverado with a crew cab and a bed cover and should have front-end damage. It was last seen heading northbound on southbound 1st Street.

An investigation into the accident is underway. Anyone with information on the suspect’s whereabouts is asked to call the authorities at 408-277-4654.

Desert Hot Springs, California (February 6, 2021) – The Riverside County Sheriff-Coroner’s Bureau has identified the Palm Desert victim who died after being struck by a vehicle in Desert Hot Springs, February 4, as 37-year-old Corey Callaghan.

The fatal pedestrian accident took place on Palm Drive, just south of Dillon Road, shortly before 8 p.m.

Callaghan was hit by a vehicle whose driver remained at the scene and cooperated with the law.

 Sadly, Callaghan was pronounced dead at the scene.

The wreck resulted in the closure of both sides of Palm Drive for an unknown time.

Meanwhile, the accident remains under investigation by the Desert Hot Springs Police Department.

The involved driver cooperated with the investigators.

Valencia, California (February 5, 2021) – 26-year-old Bryan Galindo has been arrested following an alleged DUI crash that left three victims hurt Sunday night in Valencia.

Officials received a report of the two-vehicle crash at approximately 9:30 p.m. on The Old Road near Rye Canyon Road.

The accident happened when a 2018 Honda Accord driven by Galindo, Northbound on The Old Road, failed to stop for a red light and crashed with a 2011 Mini Cooper on January 31.

Two people riding in the Mini Cooper sustained moderate injuries following the mishap.

Meanwhile, Galindo’s passenger reportedly suffered major injuries.

Police later arrested the Castaic resident, Galindo, for driving under the influence. 

The crash remains under investigation.

Lake Elsinore, California (February 4, 2021) –24-year-old Lake Elsinore rider was hospitalized with serious injuries after being involved in a suspected hit-and-run crash Wednesday evening in Lake Elsinore.

The California Highway Patrol responded to the major injury crash site at about 6:15 p.m., February 3, on Highway 74.

A gray four-door 2006 Ford F-250 was making a turn on Hammack Avenue when it crashed with a Suzuki operated by the Lake Elsinore resident westbound on Highway 74

Paramedics rushed the motorcyclist to an area hospital for treatment of major injuries.

Meanwhile, the truck motorist escaped the crash site on foot.

The detectives handling the case area gathering more evidence to locate the suspect.
