Sebastopol Man Killed in Multi-Vehicle Collision on Highway 14 in Sonoma County
Sonoma County, California (January 5, 2021) – A 32-year-old Sebastopol man was killed Monday morning in a multi-vehicle collision near Santa Rosa in Sonoma County.
The deadly crash happened at about 8:23 a.m. on Highway 12 near Merced Avenue, according to a California Highway Patrol report.
The authorities said the man was traveling eastbound on Highway 12 when he lost control of his Toyota Matrix and swerved into the westbound lanes where he struck the left side of a Ford Transit van.
The van then hit an Acura RDX that had been traveling behind the Toyota.
Meanwhile, the Toyota continued eastbound on the westbound lane and collided head-on with a westbound Chevrolet Box truck.
The impact caused the box truck to overturn onto its roof.
The Sebastopol man was pronounced dead at the scene.
The box truck driver, identified only as a 24-year-old Santa Rosa Man, was taken to a hospital with major injuries.
The 26-year-old man who was driving the Ford van was taken to the hospital with moderate injuries.
No additional information was provided.
An investigation into the accident is ongoing.
