Regina Avila Dies after being Struck by Vehicle on Washington Street and Hidden River Road in Bermuda Dunes

Bermuda Dunes, California (January 8, 2021) – The Palm Desert victim who died after being struck by a vehicle at an intersection in Bermuda Dunes Thursday evening has been identified as 48-year-old Regina Avila.

On January 7, just before 5:24 p.m., the California Highway Patrol received a report of a crash involving a pedestrian and a vehicle at Washington Street and Hidden River Road.

A Chevrolet Tahoe reportedly struck Avila at the Bermuda Dunes intersection under unclear circumstances.

The Tahoe operator stopped after hitting Avila and cooperated with the law.

Sadly, Avila was declared dead at the crash site.

The wreck resulted in the closure of the northbound and southbound lanes of Washington Street for an unknown time.

Intoxication was not believed to have played a role in the mishap.

The accident remains under investigation by the CHP.
