Santiago Diaz Killed, 2 Injured in Sacramento Car Crash at 65th Street and Fruitridge Road
Sacramento, California(December 19, 2020) – Santiago Diaz,30, from Sacramento, has been identified as the man who died Thursday afternoon in a suspected DUI collision at an intersection in South Sacramento.
The crash happened at around 4 p.m. at 65th Street and Fruitridge Road, according to the California Highway Patrol.
Diaz was driving a Toyota Corolla when, for unknown reasons, he collided with a Ford SUV.
The impact of the crash caused the SUV to overturn.
Diaz and his passenger were critically injured and were rushed to an area hospital, where Diaz succumbed to his injuries.
The SUV driver, 62-year-old Charles Howell, suffered minor injuries and was later arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence.
The authorities believe speed played a role in the crash.
An investigation into the accident is underway.
