Man Dies after Gardena Car Crash at Artesia Boulevard and Western Avenue; Dalton Bolinas Arrested
Gardena, California (December 24, 2020) – A man in his 60s was killed in a two-vehicle crash on Tuesday night in Gardena, authorities said
The deadly head-on crash occurred at the intersection of Artesia Boulevard and Western Avenue, at about 10:40 p.m., on December 22.
The incident began when the officers from the Gardena Police Department conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle operated by Dalton Bolinas, 19, of Torrance, in the 1400 block of Artesia Boulevard.
As the police approached Bolinas’s vehicle on foot, Bolinas reportedly drove off westbound at a high rate of speed. He crashed head-on into another vehicle, driven by the man in his 60s, at the intersection.
Sadly, the man in his 60s was declared dead at the crash site
Bolinas sustained unspecified injuries and was taken to a hospital for treatment.
Bolinas was arrested and booked on suspicion of vehicular manslaughter, driving under the influence and grand theft auto, the officials said.
An investigation into the accident is underway.
