John Haugen Killed, Gary Barbier Injured in Car Accident at Athens Avenue and North Foothills Boulevard

Lincoln, California (December 29, 2020) – John Haugen, 68, of Rocklin, has been identified as the man who was killed in a two-car accident in Lincoln on Monday morning.

According to the California Highway Patrol, the collision was reported at around 11:30 a.m. at Athens Avenue and North Foothills Boulevard intersection.

Haugen was driving a Chevy Suburban eastbound on Athens Avenue when, for an unknown reason, he drifted into oncoming traffic and collided head-on with a Ford F-350.

Police said Haugen was found dead in the driver’s seat.

The F-350 driver, Gary Barbier, 59, of Penryn, suffered minor injuries and was taken to an area hospital.

Neither alcohol nor drug appeared to be a factor in the accident.

The cause of the accident is under investigation.
