Donald Steinhaus Killed in Head-On Crash on Highway 46 in Wasco
Wasco, California (December 17, 2020) – Donald Frank Steinhaus, 43, of Wasco, has been identified as the man who was killed in a head-on car crash on Tuesday night in Wasco, according to the Kern County coroner’s office.
The deadly accident occurred at about 8:19 p.m., on December 16, on Highway 46, east of Scofield Avenue.
According to the police, a vehicle driven by Steinhaus crashed head-on into another vehicle, operated by Margaret Fladhammer, 61, of Oceano, for undetermined reasons.
Sadly, Steinhaus was pronounced dead at the scene.
One other person, who was a passenger in Steinhaus’s vehicle, was hospitalized with moderate injuries.
Fladhammer was determined to have been intoxicated at the time of the collision.
Police later arrested Fladhammer and booked her into the Central Receiving Facility on suspicion of DUI resulting in bodily injury, gross vehicular manslaughter while intoxicated, possession of a controlled substance, and possession of paraphernalia.
The crash remains under investigation. Anyone with information regarding the accident is urged to call 861-3110 or Secret Witness at 322-4040.
