2 Killed, 3 Injured in Multi-Vehicle Collision on Highway 79 in Vail Lake
Vail Lake, California (December 3, 2020) – Two people were killed and three others were injured in a multi-vehicle collision on Thursday afternoon in Vail Lake, east of Temecula.
The accident happened at around 2:30 p.m. December 3, on Highway 79 near Dugan Drive.
According to the California Highway Patrol, an SUV and a sedan collided in the southbound lanes of the highway, causing both vehicles to overturn.
A third vehicle was also involved in the accident.
A 62-year-old man from Aguanga and a 56-year-old man from Anza were pronounced dead at the scene.
The driver of the sedan suffered major injuries and was taken to Inland Valley Medical Center.
Two other people were transported to Temecula Valley Hospital with moderate injuries.
All lanes were reopened by 6:40 p.m.
An investigation into the crash is underway.
