Jesus Rios Arrested Following Fatal Hemet DUI Collision at Florida Avenue and Kirby Street
2 Killed, 1 Hurt in Hemet Alleged DUI Accident at Florida Avenue and Kirby Street
Hemet, California (December 13, 2020) – Two people died, and another one was hurt following an alleged DUI car crash at an intersection in Hemet Saturday morning, the Hemet Police Department reported.
The deadly accident was reported at approximately 4:00 a.m. at Florida Avenue and Kirby Street.
A BMW 535i sedan operated by 33-year-old Jesus Rios, east on Florida Avenue, failed to stop at the intersection and slammed into the rear of a Honda Fit hatchback.
The Honda motorist, a 21-year-old Hemet woman, and one of her passengers died in the accident.
Meanwhile, another victim riding in the Honda survived with serious injuries.
Rios, a Downey resident, was not hurt but was trying to escape the scene on foot before being stopped by a witness.
Rios was later arrested and booked into jail on suspicion of driving under the influence, two counts of vehicular homicide and attempted hit and run.
The accident remains under active investigation.
