San Marcos Man Dies after Valley Center Car Accident on Valley Center Road near Rock Hill Ranch Road

Valley Center, California (November 18, 2020) – Authorities are investigating a Tuesday afternoon traffic accident that killed a 35-year-old San Marcos man in Valley Center.

The fatal two-vehicle accident occurred on Valley Center Road near Rock Hill Ranch Road at about 1:15 p.m. on November 17.

According to the California Highway Patrol, the 35-year-old San Marcos man was driving an Acura TL when he attempted to pass a slower-moving Toyota Highlander on the roadway.

Unfortunately, the Acura sideswiped the SUV, driven by a 35-year-old San Marcos woman, drifted off the roadway, and smashed into a power pole and a tree, the officials said.

The San Marcos man was declared dead at the scene.

The San Marcos woman and six young children in her vehicle were not hurt in the mishap.

An investigation into the accident is underway.
