Capitan, California (November 17, 2020) – The California Highway Patrol has released the name of the Lompoc victim who died following a traffic collision at an intersection in Capitan on November 6.
The 7:51 p.m. crash happened on Highway 101 at El Capitan Ranch Road on November 6.
As per the report, 50-year-old Kelly Chadic was hit by a northbound 2007 Toyota RAV4 while standing in the highway’s right-hand lane.
The RAV4 operator, 60-year-old Jerry D. Hartmann, veered off to avoid Chadic, but his Toyota’s right corner hit him.
Chadic, who was then struck by a second car, was pronounced dead at the crash site.
An investigation into the fatal crash is underway.
