Palmdale Hit-and-Run Collision at 10th Street West and Avenue O-8 Left 18-Year-Old Sergio Martinez Dead
Palmdale, California (February 2, 2021) – 18-year-old Sergio Martinez has been identified as one of the two victims who died following a suspected hit-and-run accident in Palmdale Sunday morning.
Officials responded to the fatal crash site at around 10:20 p.m., January 30, in the area of 10th Street West and Avenue O-8.
The accident began when a black Chrysler, escaping another accident’s scene, allegedly ran a red light at the Palmdale intersection before T-bonding a grey Honda Civic that was traveling westbound on Avenue O-8.
Two Honda occupants, including 17-year-old Anthony Cruz and his cousin, Martinez, were declared dead at the crash site.
Meanwhile, two other patients declined to be taken to the hospital.
Police are gathering more evidence to locate the black vehicle operator who fled the crash site on foot.
An investigation into the accident is underway. Anyone with information about the crash is urged to contact the Sheriff’s officials at 661-272-2400.
