Woman Killed in Wrong-Way Car Accident on SR-78 in Vista
Vista, California (January 5, 2021) – A 24-year-old woman was killed in a wrong-way car crash involving a truck on Highway 78 in Vista late Sunday night, according to a police report.
The accident happened at about 10:30 p.m. January 3, on State Route 78 near Sycamore Avenue.
A 2009 Toyota Tacoma pickup truck was traveling eastbound on the westbound side of Highway 78 when it collided head-on with a Toyota Matrix hatchback.
Both the truck driver and the woman driving the matrix were severely injured and were taken to the hospital
Sadly, the 24-year-old woman was pronounced dead at the hospital. The name of the deceased was not immediately disclosed pending notification of the next of kin.
The truck driver, a 36-year-old Carlsbad man, is believed to have been intoxicated at the time of the accident.
The accident remains under investigation.
