San Leandro Multi-Vehicle Accident on Interstate 880 near Floresta Boulevard Overpass Kills 39-Year-Old Guadalupe Romero

San Leandro, California (January 11, 2021) – 39-year-old Guadalupe Romero has been identified as the East Bay victim who died after three vehicles crashed early Saturday morning in San Leandro, the California Highway Patrol reported.
The multi-vehicle accident occurred on southbound Interstate 880 near the Floresta Boulevard overpass at approximately 1:00 a.m. January 9.
The mishap happened when an unspecified vehicle heading northbound on Interstate 880 rear-ended another automobile for reasons still under investigation.
Due to the impact, the rear-ended vehicle then rolled over. Two people were also ejected from their automobiles after the crash.
Officials said Romero stopped following the initial accident and got out of his vehicle to render aid to the victims. He was then struck by another vehicle in the process.
The ejected victims and four other parties sustained moderate to severe injuries following the wreck. All patients were rushed to Eden Medical Center in Castro Valley and Highland Hospital in Oakland for further treatment.
Sadly, Romero died at the crash site.
Meanwhile, police arrested the motorist of the first vehicle on suspicion of DUI. However, the operator of the second vehicle was not at the scene.
Limited details about the mishap were released at the time of the report.
The accident remains under investigation by the CHP.
