Francisco Deluna Fatal Lake Elsinore Car Accident on Interstate 15 Friday Night
Lake Elsinore 2-Vehicle Collision on Interstate 15 Kills 49-Year-Old Francisco Deluna
Lake Elsinore, California (January 9, 2021) – The California Highway Patrol has identified the Perris victim who died following a two-vehicle collision on a freeway in Lake Elsinore Friday night as 49-year-old Francisco Deluna.
The CHP responded to the crash site at about 11:10 p.m., January 8, on Interstate 15 near the Railroad Canyon/Diamond Road exit.
The accident happened when a 2020 Nissan Versa operated by Deluna southbound on the freeway slowed down for traffic ahead. A 2015 GMC Sierra pick-up truck operated by a 55-year-old Temecula man then slammed into the back of the Nissan Versa.
Due to the impact, the Nissan was thrown into the center divider.
Sadly, Deluna died in the accident.
The Temecula driver, who escaped the crash site, was later arrested on suspicion of DUI and hit-and-run.
An investigation into the accident is underway.
