2 Injured in Two-Vehicle Collision at Day Street and Cottonwood Avenue in Moreno Valley

Moreno Valley, California (January 22, 2021) – Marco Fonseca, 21, of Hemet, was arrested on suspicion of DUI following a car crash that left two people with major injuries on Tuesday night in Moreno Valley.

The collision was reported at about 7:01 p.m. January 19, in the area of Day Street and Cottonwood Avenue, according to the California Highway Patrol.

Fonseca was driving a red Nissan southbound on Day Street at a high rate of speed when he failed to stop at the stop sign at the intersection and was broadsided by a gray BMW that was traveling westbound on Cottonwood Avenue.

A passenger in the BMW was ejected from the car and was seriously injured.

The driver of the BMW suffered moderate injuries.

Fonseca remained at the accident scene and was arrested and booked into Robert Presley Detention Center on suspicion of DUI.

The accident remains under investigation.
