Motorcyclist Killed in Collision on Pepper Drive near Plumeria Drive in El Cajon
El Cajon, California (December 15, 2020) – A woman has been arrested on suspicion of DUI after a deadly collision involving a motorcycle and an SUV in El Cajon on Monday morning.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the deadly collision happened on Pepper Drive near Plumeria Drive.
A 32-year-old man from El Cajon was riding a 2005 Suzuki GSXR 1000 motorcycle eastbound on Pepper Drive when he was struck by a 2011 Kia Sportage that was northbound on Plumeria Drive.
The motorcyclist suffered major injuries and was taken to an area hospital where he died while undergoing treatment.
The identity of the deceased was not immediately established.
The driver of the Kia, 59-year-old Pamela Gilmore of Santee, suffered minor injuries but declined treatment.
The CHP determined that Gilmore was under the influence of a combination of drugs and alcohol. She was booked at Los Colinas Women’s Detention Facility for felony DUI causing injury and gross vehicular manslaughter.
No additional information about the accident was provided.
An investigation into the accident is ongoing.
