Man Struck and Killed by Vehicle on Grand Avenue in Oakland ID’d as Wayne Sanders

Oakland, California (December 19, 2020) – 69-year-old Wayne Sanders has been identified as the victim who died following a pedestrian accident in the Grand Lake neighbourhood of Oakland last week Thursday.

Officials responded to the fatal crash site at about 5:36 p.m., December 10, in the 3700 block of Grand Avenue at Wildwood Avenue.

A vehicle, heading southbound on Grand Avenue, hit Sanders while walking across the street outside of a marked crosswalk.

The involved driver, a female party, remained at the scene and cooperated with the law.

Sanders died at the hospital while undergoing treatment.

Intoxication was not considered as a factor in the wreck.

The crash resulted in the closure of Wildwood and Weldon avenues for an unknown time.

An investigation into the accident is underway.
