Man Killed in Pedestrian Accident on Highway 101 in Loleta
Loleta, California (December 23, 2020) – A 40-year-old Fortuna man was killed in an auto-pedestrian accident on Friday night in Loleta.
The accident happened at around 8 p.m. December 18, on Highway 101, just south of the Loleta Drive exit.
According to the California Highway Patrol report, the pedestrian walked eastward across the highway and directly in the path of a northbound 2010 Toyota and was struck.
The man was thrown into a traffic lane and was hit by a 2006 Chevrolet.
The victim was pronounced dead at the scene.
Alcohol and drugs did not appear to be a factor in the accident.
The crash resulted in the closure of the northbound lanes of the highway for about an hour.
No additional information about the accident was provided.
The accident is under investigation.
