Henry Saldana-Mejia and Gabriela Andrade Killed in Newport Beach Car Crash at Pelican Hill Road and Newport Coast Drive
Newport Beach, California (December 10, 2020) – Two children were seriously injured in a suspected DUI car crash that killed both of their parents on Tuesday evening in Newport Beach.
The fatal car crash happened at about 7:26 p.m. December 8, near the intersection of Pelican Hill Road and Newport Coast Drive, according to the California Highway Patrol.
Newport Beach police say 22-year-old Grace Coleman was driving her Range Rover while under the influence when she collided with a Nissan.
27-year-old Henry Saldana-Mejia and 28-year-old Gabriela Andrade, both residents of Santa Ana, were inside the Nissan and were killed in the crash.
Two children inside the Nissan were transported to the hospital in critical condition.
Coleman sustained minor injuries and was transported to the hospital for treatment. She was later arrested on suspicion of felony DUI and hit-and-run resulting in death.
No additional information about the accident was provided.
An investigation into the accident is ongoing.
