Phillip Barragan Fatal Gardena Traffic Accident at Artesia Boulevard and Western Avenue
Gardena DUI Car Crash at Artesia Boulevard and Western Avenue Kills 64-Year-Old Phillip Barragan
Gardena, California (December 24, 2020) – The 64-year-old victim who died following an alleged DUI crash at an intersection in Gardena Tuesday night has been identified as Phillip Barragan.
At about 10:40 p.m., on December 22, officials received a report of a crash involving two vehicles at the intersection of Artesia Boulevard and Western Avenue.
The accident began when 19-year-old Dalton Bolinas escaped the authorities who were conducting a traffic stop in the 1400 block of Artesia Boulevard.
The initial report showed that officers were approaching Bolinas’ car on foot, but he drove off westbound at a high-speed rate.
Bolinas, a Torrance resident, then crashed with another automobile operated by Barragan at the Gardena intersection.
Sadly, Barragan was declared dead at the scene.
Bolinas was hospitalized before being arrested on suspicion of DUI, evading, and vehicular manslaughter.
An investigation into the deadly crash is underway.
