Man Killed in Redding Pedestrian Crash on 5 Freeway Cypress Avenue
Fatal Pedestrian Accident Reported on Interstate 5 in Redding
Redding, California (December 9, 2020) – The California Highway Patrol is investigating a fatal pedestrian accident that happened on Monday morning in Redding.
The CHP said the accident was reported at around 5:10 a.m. on Interstate 5 Freeway, just south of the Cypress Avenue interchange.
Guillermo Campos Jr., 43, a Sacramento resident, was driving a Kenworth big rig northbound on I-5 at about 55mph when he struck a man who was walking along the freeway.
The pedestrian was killed in the accident.
The identity of the victim was not disclosed.
One lane of the off-ramp was closed for about two hours as investigators examined the scene.
The accident remains under investigation.
