Sonoma Pedestrian Accident on Verano Avenue at Main Street Left 78-Year-Old Raymond Carrillo Dead
Sonoma, California (November 24, 2020) – The Sonoma man who died following a pedestrian accident Tuesday morning in Sonoma has been identified as 78-year-old Raymond Carrillo.
The California Highway Patrol responded to the deadly crash site at approximately 6:22 a.m. on Verano Avenue at Main Street, just west of Highway 12.
A 2012 Honda operated by 26-year-old Alejandro Arellano, eastbound on the highway, hit Carrillo while crossing Verano Avenue in a marked crosswalk.
Officials affirmed there were no streetlights at the intersection.
Carrillo died in the accident.
Arellano, a Sonoma resident, survived with minor injuries.
Intoxication was not considered as a factor in the mishap.
The wreck resulted in the closure of the highway for several hours as investigation and cleanup took place.
An investigation into the deadly accident is underway.
