Pilot Killed in Plane Crash near North Sutter Avenue in Pacoima
Pacoima, California (November 13, 2020) – A Civil Air Patrol aircraft pilot was killed in a crash late Thursday morning in Pacoima.
The accident happened at around 11:30 a.m. in the 10600 block North Sutter Avenue., according to the Los Angeles Fire Department.
The police said a Cessna 182T crashed on the west side of Whiteman Airport and slammed into three residential homes.
The plane burst into flames after the crash, igniting two cars, and the fire spread to trees and vegetation in front of the residential homes.
The pilot, who was the only person in the plane, was killed in the crash.
The LAFD responded to the scene and were able to extinguish the fire.
The Civil Air Patrol’s California Wing said the deceased was a member of the organization but did not disclose his identity.
Additional information about the accident was not provided.
An investigation into the crash is underway.
