Michael Verdugo Struck and Killed by Train on Raymer Street in Van Nuys

Van Nuys, California (November 5, 2020) – A man who was hit and killed by an Amtrak train on Tuesday night in Van Nuys has been identified as 19-year-old Michael Verdugo.

The fatal pedestrian accident occurred in the 15039 block of West Raymer Street at about 9:06 p.m. November 3.

According to the authorities, Verdugo was walking in the area when, for unknown reasons, he ended up on the railroad tracks and was struck by Amtrak Pacific Surfliner train No. 796.

The police said Verdugo was pronounced dead at the scene.

No passenger on board was injured.

Additional information about the accident was not immediately provided.

The accident remains under investigation.
