Abel Villegas Hit and Killed by Vehicle on Interstate 80 in Sacramento
Sacramento, California (November 19, 2020) – Abel Villegas, 36, a Sacramento resident, has been identified by the Sacramento County Coroner’s Office as the man who was killed in a pedestrian accident early Wednesday morning in Sacramento.
The fatal crash happened at around 1:40 a.m. on Interstate 80 freeway near the Raley Boulevard off-ramp.
The California Highway Patrol said Villegas was struck by a Jeep Patriot driven by a 59-year-old Sacramento woman.
Villegas was killed in the accident.
The driver remained at the scene and cooperated with the authorities.
Alcohol and drugs did not appear to be factors in the crash.
The crash prompted the closure of the westbound lanes of I-80 for an unknown duration.
The CHP is investigating the accident.
