2 Hospitalized after Smith River Car Accident on Highway 101 near Shoreline Drive

Smith River, California (November 25, 2020) – Authorities are investigating a Tuesday afternoon traffic accident that left two people seriously injured in Smith River, Del Norte County.

The major injury two-vehicle accident occurred on Highway 33 near Shoreline Drive at about 12:33 p.m. November 24.

According to the CHP, a sedan collided with an SUV on the roadway for unknown reasons. 

As a result of the crash impact, one of the vehicles reportedly overturned, pinning the driver inside.

Two people were seriously injured in the accident and were transported to a hospital for treatment.

Traffic on the northbound side of the highway was closed for an unknown period due to the accident.

The crash remains under investigation.
