Brandon Hicks Struck and Killed by Vehicle on Highway 99 near Mallard Estates Road in Chico
Chico, California (January 19, 2021) – The Butte County Sheriff’s Office has identified the Chico victim who died after being struck by a vehicle in Chico, Thursday night, as 49-year-old Brandon Hicks.
The California Highway Patrol responded to the deadly crash site at about 7 p.m. on Highway 99 just north of Meridian Road.
A car reportedly hit Hicks while walking on the east side of the roadway on January 14 under unclear circumstances.
Meanwhile, the driver of the involved vehicle did not stop to render aid and escaped the crash site.
Hicks was pronounced deceased at the scene.
Officials shut down both sides of Highway 99 for approximately four hours as investigation and clean-up took place.
The accident remains under active investigation.
