Raymond Poquette Arrested after Fatal Grass Valley Car Crash on Highway 49 near Cerrito Road
1 Killed in Head-On Collision on Highway 49 near Cerrito Road in Grass Valley
Grass Valley, California (January 2, 2021) – Raymond Poquette, 80, of Grass Valley, was arrested after a fatal head-on collision that happened on Thursday night in Grass Valley.
The California Highway Patrol said the collision was reported just after 11 p.m. December 31, on Highway 49 near Cerrito Road.
Poquette was driving a 1996 Freightliner Discovery motorhome southbound on Highway 49 when he drifted into the opposite lane and collided head-on with a northbound 2011 Nissan Altima.
The motorhome then struck an oncoming 2010 Dodge Charger driven by Julius Molnar IV.
The impact of the collision caused the Dodge to roll over several times.
The driver of the Nissan, a 56-year-old woman, was killed in the accident. Her name, however, was not immediately disclosed.
Poquette and Molnar suffered minor injuries and were taken to Sutter Roseville Medical Center for treatment.
Poquette was later arrested and booked at the Nevada County Jail on unknown charges.
An investigation into the accident is underway.
